  2. 1. Donate to fight hunger
    2. It was somehow effective and left it's sad message, while showing steps to lessen it.
    3. The message was strong enough to leave the necessity of making a donation to reach the 2014 goal. But the name of the foundation is hard to pronounce and remember, not leaving any easy to remember webpages makes it even more improbable to contact.
    4. It was completely inspiring, pointing out our obligations as humans but as mentioned above, not leaving contact details makes the donation act less happening, which questions the effectiveness of the ad.
    * The characterized fingers have been repeated too many times in other ads and to keep it's originality, it's better not to use them too often.

  3. 1.) Extend help to end hunger. It can be through financial or intellectual means.
2.) The clip is an eye opener that a lot of people suffers from lack of food and it is effective since it touches the heart of the people to share our blessings to those in need.
3.) Yes, the video inspires me to make donations for the project since the use of a kid that tells his life story and the ways on how he fights for hungry stomach is so heartrending.
4.)I was motivated to act because of the nice ad but they must include in the video the Bayan-anihan contact numbers and bank account numbers for the message to be responded properly. Advertisement should be complete so that the respondents will not be left hanging on what to do.

  4. 1. You could help remove hunger from Philippines. So help.
    2. The message was effective in some parts and not in other parts. It was a new approach to people for charity but the problem was it was somehow enjoyable to watch. Like the 5 parts was making you think you're watching a movie not a real life fact.
    3. It will not motivate me because I will go and help another charity like cancer because of their approach like showing me the real little girl without hair hoping for life.
4a. It has not touched me because first of all I'm thinking of the money that this kind of advertisement has taken and it could help so many people be fed. I think the boy is actually from the family in his dream and now is playing a little movie. I can't help it to wonder how could this many people not prevent pregnancy if hunger is such a problem and how come they cannot do work as much as buying something more than noodle. So I think this could be more real and more touching.

  5. 1. Fight hunger by work together as a community.

    2. I felt sad but at the same time it was humorous. So it was not a sad video all throughout.
It was effective in bringing out emotions, but it was not that effective on the intellectual level. (No survey results to show how Gawad Kalinga has fared so far in housing projects.)It was also not so effective in its choice of the hungry kid, he still looks good and NOT pitiable! But the program on how they plan to do it is effective in appealing to the intellectual side.

    3. I am in between, because I know that helping out can be temporary commitment from me. I can help as part of the community as shown on the video, like helping harvest or plant. But it's only for the short term. The challenge is going to the long term, and will this program really espouse the right values (begetting more children is not your way to getting more help in planting or harvesting the seeds from the farm!) This is the mentality of those living in the province. And how many can a 10sqm lot really feed? How long will they wait before harvesting? What to do during their idle time?
I am afraid the program is going back to the province life which these people tried to escape from in the first place!

4.) I would have been more convinced if they show the commitment from the people that really get the most benefit from (like the children). If Tuntoy will talk about what he thinks regarding the program, it may make me decide to go through for the long term.

  6. 1.To eradicate hunger by giving poor Filipinos a way to make a source of their food.

2.The video showcased one of the better traits of Filipinos, which is having a way to add humor with their adversities in life. The sad message was masked with the comical way of how the video was done.

3.The video has not motivated me to contact Bayan-anihan. The advertisement did not connect with my sensitivities because of the comical manner a serious message was delivered.

4.The video has not moved me because of the way they chose to channel the message. 40% of Filipinos being hungry for me is something to be very concerned of. Adding humor to the video signified as if hunger is not a serious matter. However, it made me aware of the problem and the revolutionary solution they have thought to address the problem.

  7. 1. The marketing message of the video clip is to work together in fighting hunger. It is a partnership among different entities to eradicate hunger and poverty. Cooperation, courage and determination are vital to win in this battle.

    2. The message was effective. The presentation was very creative and unique. I was smiling because it was endearing, and at the same time it made me feel bad because of the reality that Tuntoy’s life is miserable. Usually, presentations about poverty, and other societal problems are dragging and we just donate money or goods because we think that we are giving them big help already. We forget that giving them these things is not enough, teaching them how to survive is more important and this clip did well in delivering the message.

    3. Yes, the video it inspired me to contact bayan-anihan. I love the way they creatively presented the depressing reality. They did not put any contact details though. I think if you really want to help, you should take the initiative in finding their contact details. It appeals to our hearts, so if we are really sincere in helping others, contacting them will not be a problem.

    4. I have been part of different apostolic activities since college. I volunteer in outreach activities in the office too. I am willing to give a certain amount to these kinds of activities, but I want to actually be there. Experiences like this is truly amazing and unforgettable. I will join the activities organized by the school or our office when there are any.

  8. Comment on 3 things:
    1. The Marketing Message is that hunger can be eradicated if we all work together in providing not only food to those in need, but to teach them to provide for themselves.

    2. It reminded me again of how a large portion of our population still struggle to eat three square meals a day. If the intent of the message is to get the viewer thinking, then I would say that video was effective.

    3. I apologize if I may seem heartless, but while it made me sympathetic to the plight of Tuntoy, it was not enough to make me want to contact Bayan-anihan to make a contribution.

The main reason for this is the ad highlighted a couple of Filipino traits that I disdain: Our tendency to put things on our debt list (utang), and the way it showed the kids doing nothing the whole day. Why aren't they in school? If the video was set in summer, then shouldn't they be helping out with house chores?

Granted, these are harsh realities that people have to deal with on a daily basis, it just turned me off instead of inspire me.

    4. If you were not inspired/ motivated to act, what is lacking in the message or execution?

If the video excluded the less than commendable Filipino traits mentioned above, or if it went more into detail on how the people of Barangay Gutom would be trained and educated to fend for themselves, thus, making the protagonists more sympathetic, then I would have no qualms contributing to the cause.

  9. 1. Teach the People how to fight hunger.

    2. The message was effective because bring out emotions. But the other part was funny, especially 5 ways to cope with hunger.

    3. It doesn't inspire me because I very confuse, The first part of video show the people was hungry and need a food and the other part they also need a house to stay. Which one they need house or food?

    4. the message was lacking in:
    a. The kid in this video was very fat, don't show hunger or bad nutrition.
    b. They do nothing or they don’t looking alternative way to find foods, they only depend on others.
    c. I was doubtful about 40% Filipinos was hungry in 2008.
    d. Video don’t show the exactly place where really need help and how distributed the aid to them (from bank account, link or Address).

  10. 1. Help eradicate hunger by supporting Gawad Kalinga's Bayan-anihan. GK's Bayan-anihan will provide 10sqm of land per family, seeds to plant and proper training.

    2. The message was effective in letting people know of GK's Bayan-anihan and how it plans to help solve hunger. However, the message was not complete as it lacked some important details as to how interested people can actually help. (contact details)

    3. Yes, I was motivated. But the video left-out the contact details.

    4b. Food donations

  11. 1. The clip talks about the Philippine's biggest problem which is poverty, specifically hunger and how there is a lack of social development programs to alleviates these concerns.

    2. The video was pretty effective. It was able to bring about its' main message of helping out in the fight for hunger. Adding a touch of humor was pretty nice in the sense that it shows how we as Filipinos can still manage to smile and laugh in the midst of difficulties and setbacks.

    3. Yes I was inspired to help out but due to the absence of contact details or where this foundation can be found, I think i'll just support my church (Christ Commission Fellowship) with their programs for the poor. We all can help in giving to the less fortunate in our own personal ways. Gawad Kalinga is only one of many avenues in which this can be done.

    4. As mentioned above --- no contact details or address.

4b. Am already currently supporting a ministry in our church that gives to the poor, feeds them and teaches them the Word of Christ by giving a specific sum every month.

  12. 1. What is the marketing message?

The marketing message of the video is to fight hunger through the help of universities, government, businessmen, community and youth which will have separate tasks that need to be accomplished to end hunger in the Philippines.

    2. Comment on how you reacted to/ felt about the message. Was it effective or not?

I was touched by the video clip that I just viewed because I felt the problem of the people who are fighting against hunger and poverty. It’s really sad to see that there are a lot of families who don’t have the chance to eat regularly even though food is just a basic necessity that every Filipino family should have.

Based on the video, hunger continues to be a big problem for almost 40% of Filipino families and I believe the message being implied in the video was obvious but not really effective because it lacks a strong emotional hit that will trigger the viewers to act upon the message.

    3. Watch the video again. Does it inspire/ motivate you enough to contact Bayan-anihan to make your contribution? Why or why not?

Actually, the video is not that inspiring enough to motivate me to contact Bayan-anihan to make a contribution because it didn’t create a strong emotional impact. It’s because the people in the video looked complacent on their situation. It’s like an ordinary day that they don’t have food on their table but they’re already used to it. They even cited ways on how to cope with hunger. In addition, the video did not include any contact number or e-mail address in order to know the details where the donation can be deposited.

    4. a. If you were not inspired/ motivated to act, what is lacking in the message or execution?

4a. What’s lacking as I already mentioned is the strong emotional impact. A video like that should really entice people to contribute by making them feel that they are so lucky while these people have a very depressing situation. I think it needs more “drama” since most soap-operas are really effective in encouraging viewers to watch and feel the situation of the lead roles who were always the victim in the TV shows.

  13. 1. 40% of Filipino family is going hungry. The Bayan-anihan is a program which wants to give them a chance for something better. By empowering poor Filipino knowledge and skills to feed themselves, they work as a community and try their best to let the Filipino say goodbye to hunger.
    2. I felt so bad that these poor Filipinos are too pitiful.
It is effective because it gives me a direct impression on what poor situation the poor Filipinos are facing and I think the program is a good idea and a better way to help Filipino to get out of hunger.
    3. It inspires me to help Filipinos because I can see from it how poor the poor Filipino is; but it is not enough for me to contact Bayan-anihan to make your contribution very easily because there are too many companies defraud money by the excuse of helping poor.
    4. First, it should convince me that it is true to devote all money for teaching and training poor people. It is not trusted enough. Second, it should give me a direct contact number and bank number for my contribution. All the important things are missing; it is very hard to act.

  14. 1. You can make a difference in solving the hunger problem in the Philippines

    2. The message is good, but I didn't like the way they mixed comedy and drama to tell the story. The comedy bits were good in theory, but the execution was lacking. Still, they were able to convey the message effectively thanks to the narrator just explicitly saying it.

    3. Not really. I was lost on the way they explained the plan to eradicate hunger by 2024.

    4. They need to simplify things. It's possible I may just have ADD, but 5+ minutes is too long. They just need to state the problem, how they plan to solve it, and then specific ways on how to contribute.

  15. 1. The word is right, give fish not better give the ways to teach them fishing.
    2. I am feeling everyday. There are countless of stress people that we can see, from age just new born to that I can not realize how old they are. As I see the kids on the streets to ask for money and foods, there is bitter feeling coming up to me. How do I help them? There are too much unfair and unjustice in the world. When you waste your food and buy something useless , just share a bit of your love, be generous to them, you will feel truly happy.
    3. Some people are not satisfy with their life, when they got nokia , they still want Iphone, deepest greed in our heart, that can added in the video.
    4. First, I will pray for the children. Second, I am trying to help them in order to influence other s around me, it is not enough only one person force. Third, wish that there are lots of people can wake up to share our love together.

  16. 1.Contribute to the fight against hunger. Be part of the solution

2.It was education and satirical in presentation which was good to initially catch the attention of the viewer and eventually endear him/her to the cause.

    3. Yes, the video did inspire me to be part of their cause. Although it would have been better if they provided an extensive detail on how to get hold of their organization.

4.I would start helping Bayan-anihan by spreading the word by re-posting this video. Verbal and physical acts of encouraging people around me to the great cause of Bayan-anihan would also be helpful.

  17. 1. What is the marketing message?

YOU can help put an end to hunger especially among the poor in the Philippines by helping and supporting Gawad Kalinga’s Bayan Anihan project in any way YOU can.

    2. Comment on how you reacted to/ felt about the message. Was it effective or not?

I think Gawad Kalinga’s goal to eradicate hunger completely by 2024 is feasible. I thought their plan to empower the poor of the knowledge and skill to feed themselves instead of just organize food drives and continually feed them with donated food is remarkable as it will be effective. Gawad Kalinga’s project will truly help the poor in the long run because it will teach them not to rely too much on other people but themselves; it will teach them positive values like accountability, competence, cooperation, involvement discipline and hard work, quality of work, self-reliance, and stability.

    3. Watch the video again. Does it inspire/ motivate you enough to contact Bayan-anihan to make your contribution? Why or why not?

Yes. It was clear in the video that everyone- universities, government, businessmen, community, youth- has a role to fill. I’m completely convinced that for Gawad Kalinga’s plan to work, everyone’s involvement in the project is needed.

4.b. If you were inspired/ motivated to act, specify your contribution: when, how much and how will you give it?

My parents are in the agricultural industry; they distribute agricultural products and farm related inputs like seeds, chemicals, fertilizers, and animal feeds in Region 2. One way to help Gawad Kalinga’s Bayan Anihan project is to donate-- when I finish my MBA and then work for my parents again, in my first year, I will donate P10,000 worth of seeds and P40,000 worth of pesticides and fertilizers.

  18. 1. The marketing message is that there are several Filipinos have little or nothing to eat.

    2. The video about Tuntoy and the neighborhood's condition in regards to hunger and food shortage is depressing and you feel sympathy for this people. But looking entirely on the video, it also has a negative impression about these type of people because it shows that these people are resourceful in a wrong sense. Their method of resourcefulness to cope with hunger is out of laziness or hopelessness. Like sleeping and dreaming, waiting for something to happen, but they are not doing specifically anything to find food.

    3. Yes, it did inspire me to give only because they explained how they will teach the hungry people to generate their food. Had it been just giving them food, I will have to think twice.

4.B. My contribution would not be limited to money or helping to harvest vegetables. Or maybe not like that at all. We must also know the cause of hunger and try to resolve that. Is it shortage of food? Then we must really find ways to generate food for the people. Is it their inability to financially support their selves? Then we need to offer jobs and livelihoods. Planting food is a good idea. But how often is the harvesting of plants? How about the waiting time to harvest? So, what I can offer is help them make a business for themselves. Being an MBA student, I can guide them what livelihoods they can make. Perhaps some of the money generated by the organization can be allotted to making small stores.

  20. 1. The country is facing a serious problem with poverty.... the good thing about it is that it has solutions.... it just needs everybody's participation including yourself.

    2. The presentation used humor and animation wonderfully which kept me glued with the video. The message of the story is very clear and straight forward

    3. It really motivated me to contact bayan-anihan. As stated, the message is clear: we have a serious poverty problem and there is something that we can do about it.

4.b - I'll contact bayan-anihan immediately to find out where I can donate money for this project.

  21. 1. The marketing message of the video is for us to work together on how to eliminate hunger and provide the necessary knowledge to people who lives in poverty.

    2. Upon watching the video it is indeed an eye opener that there are 36.8M Filipinos who lives on poverty line and we can help them by educating them on how use the resources for a living.

    3. It definitely inspires and motivates me to help them to the utmost of my ability. Using the family as their subject gave me an idea that a Filipino nation that works together will achieve one goal together, and that’s the spirit of Bayanihan.

    4. Gawad Kalinga has the credibility on helping Filipinos, I wouldn’t think twice to volunteer myself to teach Filipinos on how to properly grow a fruit bearing tree and basic agricultural planting by attending the seminar provided by Gawad Kalinga and shell out some finances thru bank donation for sustainability of the project.

  22. 1. Eradicate hunger by donating.

    2. The donation message for me wasn't effective enough. I thought if it's okay to donate non-monetary items or not? They could've given more options on how and what to donate.

    3. Yes I would contact them to make a contribution because I want to help the children (at least) to eat adequately. Tuntoy's story is just one among the many hungry kids in the country; different versions, one idea.

    4. I would donate to the cause but probably not money. I'd prefer to donate in kind because I personally want to ensure that the beneficiaries can readily use/consume my donation.
